Deuxième d'une coupe d'Europe récemment à Quarteira, Aurélien Lebrun a poursuivi sur sa lancée en terminant 3e de la coupe du monde de Chengdu (Chine). Le sociétaire de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines ne termine qu'à une dizaine de secondes du vainqueur, le Sud-Africain Wain Sullwald, champion du monde junior en 2012. Entre les deux s'est intercalé l'Américain Kevin McDowell. Un autre Bleu a tiré son épingle du jeu : Aurélien Lescure (7e).
Chez les femmes, le tiercé gagnant est le suivant : Gillian Backhouse (Aus), Jessica Broderick (Usa), Claire Michel (Bel).
